The route has been planned and the car is packed up, we are officially homeless for the rest of the month but we can’t wait to get stuck in to our travels.

We’re sad to be leaving Newquay, we've had a fantastic six months, even though weather wise, summer just hasn't happened. But we got out on the waves a few times and had numerous excursions around Cornwall. I suspect an amazing winter is coming up, within three weeks we'll be living back in Spain where the wine is cheap and the sun often shines, but first we have to get there. We've chosen to travel by car and by Euro tunnel and so there'll be time for some sightseeing in France. But first stop, Stonehenge in Salisbury, Wiltshire. We came here last year but were too tight to pay to get in. Instead we just took some photos over the fence. This time though, Paul has brought along his DSLR camera so we've got creative reasons to justify the £7.50 entrance fee.

Not much is known about these stones and it was surprising to find there isn’t a visitors centre attached, a welcomed surprise I might add. We were offered a guide book and an audio tour but didn't see any value for money in guesswork or someone’s opinion, having already paid to get in. It's nice to go and have a look at, even though it’s disappointing not to be able to go up to the stones and touch them. You probably couldn’t make a day of it but it’s worth stopping and admiring if you’re passing.
